11/8/08 MSDA Varsity Soccer Team Falls to IHA 6-0
The MSDA Varsity Soccer Team was eliminated in the second round of the NJ State Tournament on November 7, 2008 at Immaculate Heart Academy by a score of 6-0. This was an uphill battle from the start for the Lady Lions as they faced not only the defending state champion with a current season record of 20-1 with only two goals scored against all year, but the Star Ledger ranked #1 team in New Jersey and a nationally ranked recently side featured on ESPN.com.
Sophomore goalkeeper Melissa Tighe recored 14 spectacular saves, thwarting sure goal strikes for IHA and the rest of the MSDA squad displayed courage and determination not to let down for the duration and they are to be commended.
Coach Mignone named Melissa Tighe and Mary Jane Durkin the players of the match.
